We enjoyed a great birthday dinner here! There were about 13 of us & they had a big table ready when we got there. Our waitress was friendly & worked hard to keep our whole table happy. I ordered the fish & chips and it was great! I would order this again because I am not a fan of prime rib/steak. I would come back again if I was in the area!

Outstanding food, service, atmosphere, decorations. The serving sizes are very large so don't fill up on the awesome bread and honey butter. Don't forget to have a shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and that's a must. Watch out for the steak sandwich, is not a sandwich it's a awesome steak dinner that exceeded our expectations! Be sure and try the desserts or take one home they're fabulous.

I had the jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster and key lime cheesecake. The food was very delicious and would recommend the restaurant to everyone. The texture of the key lime cheesecake was different and not what I thought or expected. The tables were more cafeteria style but the food alone would take me back.

Went here for lunch on 2/6/14. I ordered a burger and fries, which were fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. The service was efficient and friendly.

Amazing lunches with good prices. Friendly staff and kid friendly. Evening dinners are delicious and well paired. Love the environment.

Like many restaurants in Great Falls this is also a video casino just in case you wanted to waste a bunch of money while waiting for your table. There is also a huge bar here and lots of dead animals, pseudo dead animals and other Western motif paraphernalia on the walls to give the place a kind of cheesy vibe. A guy my husband was working with suggested it to him so we stuck it out. I ordered a filet mignon dinner, around 27.00 and not worth it. It was a very unflavorful cut of meat, HUGE but not what I expect for a filet. It was wrapped in bacon, a throw back to my Mom in the 1950's. Huge overcooked baked potato and a really good shrimp cocktail rounded out the meal. Give me a small melt in your mouth filet cooked with a bit of pepper or garlic, sear it and then cook it a bit more. This was baked or something. Nice server in such an odd restaurant. I would urge you to skip it, I think there are way better places in Great Falls.

Amazing place! Really good food & definitely worth the prices, even though there price is very average for this type of restaurant! You should come try it!

This will be my second review of the Bar S and probably my last. My initial review, several years back, suggested folks should try the steak sandwich...because it really was good. This trip I strayed from the red meat selections at the prompting of my cardiologist,Bob, and selected the shrimp scampi appetizer. Wrong choice. The concoction arrived in a bowl and tasted like a shrimp soup with big old mushrooms that also smelled like boiled shrimp. The very large flavorless shrimps did not appear to have been sautéed but only boiled in the liquid they arrived in. Tried one bite and decided it was not for me. I certainly wouldn't order it, again, nor could I recommend it. Stick with the red meat...sorry Bob.

This meal was a contrasting study of food and drink. On the good side, excellent value, great shrimp cocktail (tasted like house-made sauce), and the first bites of my wife's ribeye were among the top 5 that I have ever had. Now for the bad... My martini was not great and served in a plastic shaker which was set on the table for me to pour myself. My prime rib was inconsistently cooked and average at best for flavor, and I am not sure if it was due to the hot plate it was served on or what, but the last half of my wife's steak got continually worse until it was tough and chewy. Not sure if there are better choices in Great Falls or not...

As good as it gets!! Used to be a prime rib fan but now a tenderloin is my cut of choice. It's a very hard choice at the Bar-S. We've eaten at both the old place and the new place and it's equally good. A good choice is the large prime rib to split between several people. Oh - but shall I choose the tenderloin? Such is the misery of blissful beef choices at the Bar-S. The sides, salads and desserts are good too! Visiting the Bar-S is always a "must-do" when in Great Falls.

The old Bar-S supperclub is one of the best prime ribs I've ever had - great medium-rare (on the rarer side) light on the peppering and heavy on the salt crust. incredible taste - light taste. The new Bar-S is different from what i hear...

I am an occasional business visitor to Great Falls, and as someone who is on the road quite frequently, I value the ability to find an interesting, healthy meal while away from home. Bar S seems to have the reputation of one of the nicer restaurants in town: it was recommended by multiple Great Falls residents I interact with. We ate here with a large group of about 12 people. The service was friendly, attentive and prompt. Large groups are a great test of service, and the restaurant receives top marks for handling us flawlessly. We started with an array of appetizers, which were fresh and flavorful. The shrimp cocktail was well prepared, which tells me that they take care to think through how to maintain seafood quality given their distance from a coast. Typical of a steakhouse, entrees are a la carte. I ordered the small ribeye. It filled a plate. No one in their right mind would consider it small. It had a feminine name, the "Queen's Cut" I think. A member of our party commented that her husband had been before and refused to order it because it felt emasculating. As a male, I can relate, but I encourage anyone reading and contemplating prime rib to consider whether it is wimpier to order a size named Queen or to order more than can be eaten. Another member of our party got the largest size ribeye, which was colossal. It was so big that it was lewd. No one can eat a 32 ounce piece of meat. He ate the equivalent of the Queen's cut and sent the rest home with a member of our party. Do you ever wonder why restaurants give us more food than we can handle? Is it that Bar S cannot impress us with flavor? Or a creative, unique preparation? The philosophy of bigger is better strikes me as insecure about their capabilities. To be fair, Bar S is not at all unique, but with 2 out of 3 adults overweight, we could use slightly smaller portions. Size aside, the flavor was quite good. The meat was tender, had a developed, carmelized crust on the edges, and a juicy pink center. I ordered broccoli with my steak. It was very plain and served as large chunks, so not too impressive. Another of our party ordered the mushrooms. I thought they had great flavor and recommend them. I had beer with my meal. They offered a selection of Montana brews that offered a range of choices, ranging from light to dark (I drank the Pigs Ass Porter). On the whole, I recommend the place for quality food and good service. I was able to meet my goal of enjoying an interesting, healthy meal.

Don't order the biggest prime rib unless you want to plug your toilet or have leftovers for a week and a half (its huuuuuge!) So delicious though. Must go if u want a steak or prime rib. Waitress was super nice. Good beer selection and surprisingly very polite and clean place, even by Great Falls standards.

Well I came back for another try-- once again I was deeply disappointed with everything! This is the last review and the last time I eat here! Period!

One of the best pieces of prime rib I've ever eaten. Beyond generous proportions. Excellent giant shrimp cocktail. Ambiance a little weird with dozens of stuffed animals hanging on the walls. Wait staff a little rough around the edges. But for that cut of meat, I'd go there again.
